Berzerker Swimming has been “Uniting the 4-States in Swimming Excellence” since 1999 and we are now searching for a new leader to take our program to even greater heights.  

The Berzerker Swimming Head Coach will serve as an Age Group and Senior Coach while collaborating with the Board of Directors to assist in the handling of administrative duties. This position requires active on-deck coaching and a commitment to high technical standards, team culture, and coaching development. Berzerker covers meet expenses, certifications, and coach education. The ideal candidate has extensive coaching experience across all skill levels, a strong grasp of stroke technique, and a passion for swimmer development. We seek an energetic, communicative, and dedicated coach who prioritizes both athletic performance and character growth, upholding high ethical and moral standards. We have access to morning and evening pool time at both of our facilities with plenty of room to build a strong team.  We offer a competitive salary, along with the potential for additional income (and benefits) through a daytime aquatics position with the school district if desired.

Qualifications:

Compliant with all required USA Swimming credentials, including Background Check, Athlete Protection Training, Safety Training, and CPR.
Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills with swimmers, parents, staff, and community members.
Proficiency in Google Docs/Sheets, Meet Manager and Team Unify.
Knowledge of current technique development and training methods.
Five years experience coaching swimmers aged 6-18 across all skill levels, all the way up to the Junior and Senior National level.
Foster a supportive environment that promotes a love for swimming, continuous improvement, and team growth.

Requirements

Head Coach Responsibilities:

Develop and execute seasonal training plans for swimmers.
Coach at 1-2 meets per month, including Arkansas LSC Championships, Sectionals, and beyond.
Design practices that accommodate a wide range of ages and abilities.
Create and update the team website (Team Unify) practice calendar, meet schedule, and club records in a timely manner.
General communication through team emails, and through the SportsYou app.
Track swimmers’ attendance and work with coaches and families to manage move-ups to appropriate groups as swimmers progress.
Recruitment of Assistant/Age Group Coaches.
Assist the team registrar with new membership inquiries, including scheduling swimmer evaluations.
Manage disciplinary issues per team policies.
Help to coordinate “team trips” with volunteer board members.
Head Coach is expected to be active in LSC governance within Arkansas Swimming, and within the Tri-State Summer League Conference.

Program Director/Chief Operating Officer Responsibilities:

Attend Board of Director Meetings as a voting member to assist in club marketing, fundraising efforts, staffing, gear orders, meet hosting coordination, and swimmer recruitment.
Maintain our great working relationships with Webb City School District and the City of Joplin to ensure the use of facilities, and coordinate facility rental for our two home pools: Webb City HS (25y indoors) and Schifferdecker Aquatic Center (50m outdoors.)
Maintain compliance and payment for insurance policies, including additional insured certificates.
Maintain non-profit compliance through the Secretary of State website and Arvest Bank.
Maintain and stay within the limits of the team travel budget and equipment budget.
Track USA Swimming compliance for all coaches, ensuring no coaches are on deck who do not have all certifications completed.
Work closely with our Swim Lessons Coordinator to secure pool space and hiring of staff.
Meet hosting responsibilities include: Securing meet calendar bids with LSC; meet sanction paperwork; securing required personnel (AO and Referee;) preparing Meet Manager files; collecting entries; coordinating with facilities; communicating with LSC and visiting teams regarding entries, results and LSC compliance.
