Description
PURPOSE
Directs and is responsible for all matters pertaining to company flight operations including safety, regulatory compliance and operations programs, processes, and systems. The DO acts as the direct supervisor to the Chief Pilot, Flight Operations Manager, Director of Training, and, when designated, the Assistant Director of Operations. The DO acts as the head of the flight operations department and is responsible for all flight department activities. The DO may delegate functions, but retains overall responsibility.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for ensuring that all company flight operations meet or exceed industry safety standards, are conducted in compliance with all applicable Federal Aviation Regulations, operations specifications, company policies and procedures, and are executed with a high degree of efficiency.
Holds overall responsibility and authority for the exercise of operational control of company flight operations.
Formulates company policies and procedures pertaining to company flight operations and ensures they are incorporated into the company manual system.
Responsible for manual development, revision, submission for acceptance/approval, and dissemination to required manual holders.
Responsible for coordinating with the Director of Maintenance for all matters pertaining to aircraft airworthiness and fleet planning.
Responsible for prompt reporting, filing, and follow-up action on required reports to appropriate governmental agencies.
Acts as primary liaison with FAA, NTSB, and other governmental agencies for matters pertaining to Air Carrier certification projects and ongoing air carrier safety and compliance.
Ensures that the proper entry, over-flight, and/or landing authorizations, when required, are obtained on flights scheduled to depart the United States.
Responsible for ensuring that staffing levels are adequate to support company flight operations, training activities, and company objectives.

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
Must have extensive Part 125/135/121 experience
Must meet the minimum qualifications required by 14 CFR Part 119.71(a)
Must possess a thorough knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs)
Must possess a working knowledge of FAA policy and guidance documents
Must possess a working knowledge of additional requirements for DoD approved Air Carriers
Must possess strong organizational skills.
